Man arrested for disarming a peace officer

On Thursday, May 6, 2021, officers assigned to the Dededo Precinct Command arrested, 30-year-old Ieremia Fagavao for disarming a peace officer.

Preliminary reports suggest that officers responded to a disturbance call at a home on Chalan Tun Luis Takano in Yigo. Officers were informed that Fagavao was not permitted to be at the residence due to an ongoing case.

Officers noted Fagavao was aggressively arguing with a household member and immediately escorted Fagavao out of the home. Fagavao reached for one of the escorting officer’s duty belts and grabbed the officer’s duty firearm.

As Fagavao attempted to pull the firearm from the holster, he was immediately
restrained by the officers and was arrested for the following offenses:

-Criminal Trespass
-Assault on a Police Officer
-Disarming of a Peace Officer
-Resisting Arrest and
-Family Violence

Fagavao was subsequently booked and confined at the Department of Corrections. This case has been forwarded to the Office of the Attorney General for prosecution.
