Man arrested for terrorizing GHURA office in Sinajana

On Wednesday, January 13, 2021, officers assigned to GPD’S Central Precinct Command entertained a Terrorizing Complaint at the GHURA Office in Sinajana.

Preliminary reports suggest that shortly before noon, an incident occurred between a GHURA employee and a 28-year-old Giovanni Joe Akima, regarding Giovanni wanting to speak to an employee from GHURA and his car parked in the employee’s parking lot.

Giovanni Akima brandished a pocket knife and asked the employee to fight, and brandished a handgun as he left the area.

Giovanni Akima later returned which officers were called and were able to detain Giovanni Akima. The handgun was later determined to be a pellet gun and was confiscated by officers at the scene.

Giovanni Akima was transported to the Central Precinct Command and arrested for the following offenses:


-Terroristic Conduct

-Reckless Conduct

-Resisting Arrest

-Family Violence and

-Violation of Court Order

Giovanni Joe Akima was tested by GPD personnel for COVID-19 and yielded negative results. He was subsequently booked and confined at the Department of Corrections. 

This case has been closed and forwarded to the Office of the Attorney General for prosecution.
