Man dies after incident outside King’s Tamuning; police investigating

The Guam Police Department is currently conducting a death investigation that occurred outside King’s Restaurant in Tamuning.

GPD public information officer Sgt. Paul Tapao, in an early morning briefing, said that at around 2:50 am Saturday morning, officers from the Tumon-Tamuning precinct responded to a disturbance involving several male individuals outside of King’s restaurant in Tamuning.

Upon the officers’ arrival, they discovered an unconscious and unresponsive man who was transported to Guam Memorial Hospital for treatment and care.

At 3:50 am, the 23- year-old man was pronounced deceased by attending physicians at GMH.

Tapao said rhe Criminal Investigation Division has now assumed the investigation and classified the case as a death investigation.

The Guam Police Department is asking anybody who may have witnessed the incident between the timeframe of 2:30 am to 2:50 am prior to the engagement to please reach out to GPD detectives at telephone numbers 4728911 or 4758615.

“Again, we’re asking anybody in the community who may have patronized King’s restaurant during the time frame. They may have witnessed the incident or they may have any information that can aid our investigators,” Tapao said.

He added: “Again, this is a death investigation. We are still in the preliminary stages of this investigation. Our detectives continue to work with information that’s being provided from our patrol and we are going to be working with the management team of the restaurant.”

GPD is also working with the management of the Guam Premier Outlets and obtaining footage from surveillance cameras around the area.

When asked whether military people were involved, Tapao reserved comment, reiterating that they are still in the preliminary stages of the investigation.
