The Mañenggon Memorial Foundation has announced that the Mañenggon Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, July 7.
The service will be held in coordination with the various village mayors.
The foundation is encouraging all survivors and their family members as well as family members of those who died in any of the camps or sites to attend the memorial.
Family members of those who survived the camps but have since passed on, and friends and the general public are also encouraged to gather at Mañenggon.
The foundation and the mayors will commemorate Chaguian, Asinan, Pigo, Fena, Faha, Tinta, As Mateo, Umafit, Mata and Mañenggon and all the other camps on Guam where the Chamorro people were forced to march in those last days of that dark time.
Those interested in participating are asked to gather at Mañenggon starting at 9:30 a.m. to commemorate the day that the Mañenggon Camp was liberated.
Survivors and their families are encouraged to participate by joining the Mañenggon March beginning at 10 a.m. from Ylig Bridge to the Mañenggon Memorial Site or to participate in the commemoration that will take place at 11:00 a.m. at the Mañenggon Memorial Site in Yona.
Transportation from Ylig Bridge to the site will be available beginning at 9 a.m. for those who cannot join the march.
During the march, survivors who cannot physically make the walk but who wish to participate will be provided transportation to join.
