Mango Festival Success Despite Typhoon

Last weekend’s Agat Mango Festival was a success despite the effects of Typhoon Dolphin just three weeks ago.

Thousands of people were said to have attended the festival both Saturday and Sunday as vendors showcased their unique mango creations without any indication that the typhoon had devastated the crops.  The community enjoyed mango slushies, mango bonuelos, mango jelly, mango cupcakes, mango pie, and even mango cheesecake.  The traditional contest was held for the biggest mango and first place was awarded to Jason Cruz.  Dorothy Grey took first place for the prettiest mango. Vendors who had a lower supply of mangoes were said to have received support from neighboring villages, Umatac and Merizo.
