In an effort to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, the gates of Catholic cemeteries on Guam, Guam Memorial Park, Our Lady of Peace Memorial Gardens, and Guam Windward Memorial will be closed to visitors from Saturday, October 31, through Monday, November 2.

Cemeteries are set to reopen on Tuesday, November 3.

In addition, the Archdiocese of Agana has also canceled all traditional All Souls’ Day Masses at all cemeteries.

Instead, the Agana Cathedral – Basilica will offer a livestreamed Mass, with Responso, at 12p.m. on Monday, Nov. 2. You can watch online at and on Facebook/Agana Cathedral (@aganacathedral).

In a previous news release, cemetery leaders said this was not an easy decision for them to make. However, they value everyone’s health more than anything else.

“Instead of going to the cemeteries on All Souls’ Day this year, we urge you to set aside time together as a family in your homes, to light a candle, offer prayers and share your recollections of those who have gone on before us. Their memories can bind us closer together. This is an unprecedented decision during these unprecedented times. However, after much thought and discussion, the health and safety of Guam’s families are our first priority,” the release stated.
