Marriage Equality and Employment Nondiscrimination Acts Pass

Lawmakers passed all bills on the agenda and all appointments before them including Bill 119 that creates equality in civil marriage and Bill 139 or the Guam Employment Nondiscrimination Act of 2015.

Guam – Session ended quickly this afternoon as lawmakers passed most of the bills and and appointments before them unanimously.

 

 The only bill that had some no votes was Senator Nerissa Underwoods Bill 119 that creates equality in civil marriage. Senators Dennis Rodriguez Jr. and Frank Aguon Jr. passed on the vote three times. When lawmakers pass on a vote three times in a row it’s recorded as a no vote. Meanwhile Vice-Speaker B.J. Cruz’s Guam Employment Nondiscrimination Act of 2015 was passed unanimiously along with Resolution 111 which requests that Guam’s Congresswoman calls for an investigatin into allegations of acces barriers that affect the quality of primary and speciality care and mismanagement at the veterans affairs Guam community based outpatient clinic and the Guam Vet Center.  Senators also unanimously confirmed all of the appointments before them including the appointment of Joseph Cruz as Chief of Police and Matt Sablan as director of the Department of Agriculture.
