Mawar to maintain intensity through tonight

Super Typhoon Mawar is moving north-northwest to Guam, according to the National Weather Service Weather Forecast Office Guam. 

As of 1:33 p.m. on May 24, Mawar is located about 45 miles east-southeast of Guam with maximum sustained winds of 140 mph. 

A Typhoon Warning remains in effect for Guam and Rota. Destructive winds are moving in this afternoon.

The center of Typhoon Mawar was located near Latitude 13.2 degrees North and Longitude 145.5 degrees East, based on the radar on Guam. 

Mawar`s location was relocated due to a new eyewall developing. It is expected to make a turn toward the west-northwest with a slight increase in forward speed over the next 24 hours. 

This will bring Mawar directly over Guam this afternoon.

Mawar is forecast to maintain this intensity through tonight.
