Guam – The Liberation Casino and Carnival booths got off to a soft opening Wednesday night.
The official opening happens this Friday, June 8th, at 6pm.
Sinajana Vice-Mayor Robert Hofmann says the soft opening is being used to work out any issues before next week’s official opening.
Throughout the day on Wednesday, members of the Mayors Council were busy building portable recycling carts and vendors were seen applying the finishing touches to their booths.
Vice Mayor Hofmann says regulatory agencies have also been making inspection visits to the Tiyan site to make sure proper permits are issued and vendors are in compliance. He adds the 24 hour casino also appears to be up to par with its security measures and proper permits.
“Because it’s a fairly new area for everyone, everyone that’s been in the system is trying to get their advice and making sure how things go…traffic patterns and safety wise” said Hofmann. “This is why we’re doing the soft opening so we kind of get all those kinks worked out by Friday.”
The mayors are also looking to see if they can open up the intersection of Route 8 and 10 for better access into the carnival and casino area. The official carnival opening is planned for Friday.
Carnival hours will be from 6 p.m. to midnight Monday-Thursday, 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. Friday, and 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. on weekends and holidays. The Casino will operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
