Guam – By unanimous decision, the mayors council voted to support Senator Dennis Rodriguez and the GMH task forces ten point plan to help GMH solve its financial woes.
Rodriguez gave a presentation to the mayors at a council meeting. After a question and answer section, the mayors voted to approve a resolution, supporting bill 277. Bill 277 allows the Guam Economic Development Authority to publish a request for information for interested stakeholders and how a Guam Memorial Hospital public private partnership would operate. The mayors also voted to support Rodriguez’s bill 275. Bill 275 authorizes GEDA to “re-program” unused money from hot bonds to go towards funding a seawall for the fisherman’s co-op. Rodriguez says that the construction of a seawall will allow the fisherman’s co-op to move forward with the reconstruction of it’s facility.
Bill 275, what it does is authorizes GEDA to reprogram some of the unused moneys in the hot bond. We know that there is still some monies, very small amount of money still available so the public policy here once this passes is to ensure that we prioritize as well the seawall work so nice that is done the fisherman’s co op can move forward with the construction of the facility, ” said Rodriguez.
