This year’s Guam Liberation activities officially ended last Wednesday, Aug. 7, and the Mayors Council of Guam is now collating its various reports for a final audit.
Dededo Mayor Melissa Savares, in an interview with the Patti Arroyo show on NewsTalk K57, said all committees were required to submit reports last Friday and they have handed in their financial reports. These reports will then be audited.
Although there is still no definitive numbers showing whether carnival gambling contributed a lot of revenue or not, Savares said that personally, she wants to have gaming back in the carnival next year.
She said the games drew crowds and added to the festivity of the event.
There is one last Liberation-related event and that is the drawing of the Liberation raffle grand winner which will be held in the main pavilion of the Chamorro Village this Wednesday.
The raffle draw was supposed to be held last Wednesday but it was postponed due to the inclement weather.
