Guam – A faculty feud is brewing at the University of Guam.
Ron McNinch, Associate Professor at the School of Public Administration, believes that his academic freedom rights have been violated because he was denied an appointed seat on the Faculty Senate.
McNinch says that the meeting at which his appointment was denied took place last September. And it was a closed meeting.
Now, McNinch says, the faculty Senate is holding an open meeting tomorrow, Thursday, to adopt a proposal allowing them to close future meetings.
He says the meeting held last September was improper and he has never been allowed to challenge the decision, or clear his name
McNinch has also filed a complaint with the newly formed FOIA Council which will be heard on April 30th. McNinch wants the FOIA Council to review the Faculty Senate’s closed door policy.
