The George Washington Geckos were dealt a crushing loss to the Former Champions The Southern Dolphins in their last outing! They were looking to bounce back against the Panthers of Guam High.
GUAM – The George Washington Geckos, did what they have yet to do all season long. They took control of a game from start to finish. In last week’s loss they fell behind 3 runs in the first inning. This week, not so much! Geckos D took the field first and set the tone. They leave 5 batters stranded and GW hurler Curtis Panaguiton get a strikeout to retire the side. Back-to-back singles by Calvin Valentine and Alan Gillan followed by a hit-by-pitch gave the Geckos a bases loaded with no outs. Then, the turning point, came off the bat of Jarred Sarrosa who gets a single. That will drive in Valentine making it a 1-0. Geckos run the total to 7-0 before the inning was all said and done. Panthers are able to chip away at the lead a bit, they score 2 in the second. After that, ALL GECKOS, only needing three runs to have the mercy rule enforced they get the bats going and run away easily in this one. Play called after the 5th BUT the damge was done. GW wins big at home 12-2 the final in Mangilao. GW will travel across town to JFK to try luck at the Islanders Thursday.
