The Broadway Musical will be brought to Guam for the first time.
Guam – Calling all actors, singers and dancers! Producers of Miss Saigon the musical will be holding auditions this weekend at the Agana Shopping Center.
This is the first time Guam has been able to secure the rights for Miss Saigon and creative director Ernest Ochoco says the production will be huge. Auditions will be held at the Agana Shopping Center’s expo center Friday at 7 pm and on Saturday and Sunday at 10 am and again at 7 pm.
If you plan to audition, you’re asked to prepare one broadway song, one monologue and expect to dance. Ochoco and choreographer Margie Dancel talk about the significance of bringing this production to Guam.
“Te importance of having that kind of story line is really pertinent to us here on the island because it’s so close to us. It happened so close to us and we have some Vietnam war vets here,” says Ochoco.
“We would like to donate part of our proceeds to local non profit organizations that work with kids. That’s one of the themes in the show, you know with war there’s a lot of orphans,” says Dancel.
“Some people are afraid maybe they’re singers and actors and they say well I’m not a dancer,” she adds.
“You never know what you’re going to be showing and what kind of talents you have until you just try,” says Ochoco.
The production is being brought to Guam by Broadway Guam and StepUp Entertainment. For more details on audition dates, times and location, visit their Facebook page at Miss Saigon Guam.
