Miss Universe Guam Winners Prepare for International Competition

Even with the Miss Universe pagaent over, the adrenalin is still high as our winners begin their extensive training to prepare for the international competition.

Guam – Last Thursday night, 14 beautiful young women competed at the Hyatt Regency Hotel for the coveted title of Miss Universe Guam 2016. Guam’s new Miss Universe, Muñeka Taisipic, will move on to compete with women from around the world in Manila, Philippines on January 30, 2017.

The pagaent also crowned Miss International Guam, Annalyn Buan, who will compete in the Miss International pagaen in Japan on October 27, going from one pageant to the next in the span of one month.

PNC sat down with Miss Universe Muñeka Taisipic and Miss International Annalyn Buan to get their thoughts on the life-changing experience.

“I’m more into sports. I play volleyball, rugby, paddling, and these kinds of things are very unfamiliar to myself and as well as my family, so it’s a huge accomplishment that I did. And I feel that they are just extremely proud of me for stepping out of my comfort zone,” shared Muñeka Taisipic.

For one, it was a different experience; for another, it was living a dream.

“This was a dream of mine. I’ve been asked many times, but I’ve always turned it down; I felt like I wasn’t ready yet. But now that I’m older, I feel like I’ve had so much experiences in my life that I feel that I’m ready to do this, to conquer it,” Annalyn Buan stated.

Both ladies talked about how they will represent Guam.

Muñeka Taisipic said “I would like to go to [the Philippines] to spread our cultural heritage, how we are very hospitable, and just share my knowledge of our island.”

“I want to spread the Håfa Adai spirit, and show these girls that Guam is a beautiful place, and they should come and visit,” responded Annalyn Buan.

Be sure to look out for Annalyn Buan, who will be competing in the Miss International pagaent in Tokyo, Japan on October 27.
