Missing swimmer rescued

The Guam Fire Department reported that at 3:58 p.m., 911 dispatch received a call for a reported missing swimmer at Ritidian beach.

The missing swimmer is adult, male, of Asian descent, and age 39.

According to GFD, the wife of the swimmer told a maintenance worker she had last seen her husband standing on the reef.

GFD Rescue 1 & 2, Engine 12, Medic 4, HSC 25 and USCG conducted a search.

At 5:29 p.m., the U.S. Coast Guard informed the GFD dispatch center that a civilian vessel in the area had come upon the swimmer and retrieved him from the water.

The man, who is in good health, was transferred to the USCG Response Boat and is being taken to Hagatna Marina to be evaluated by GFD medics.
