Guam – The Hagatna bridge project was supposed to be completed two years ago, but it looks like there’s more work that needs to be done before it opens back to traffic again.
The contractor Core Tech International was given the Notice to Proceed for construction of the project on April of 2012. Department of Public Works Highway Administrator Joaquin Blaz says the contract completion date was set for April 2014. However, he adds, that contractor has not met their own schedule for completing the work and they are currently working well past the time when the project should have been completed. The $16.6 million project includes the bridge on Route 1 and Route 1 road work between Route 8 and Route 4. Blaz says the remaining work that needs to be completed is to place the friction course pavement, place the roadway striping and reflective markers along with the signs along the road. It is anticipated that the road opened to traffic by mid to the end of March 2016.
