More Than $20,000 in Gifts to be donated to Guahan’s Children

Guam – It is better to give than to receive.
This year more than 1,000 gifts and toys valued at more than $20,000 will be donated to the Salvation Army to help warm the hearts of hundreds of children this holiday season.

First Lady Joann G. Camacho will join George Lai, president of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce of Guam (CCCG); Alfred Lam, former president of CCCG; Jack Chen, chair of the Toy Drive; Peter Lai, vice-chair; and other members of the CCCG to present the gifts to the Salvation Army.

The donation is scheduled to take place Tuesday, December 14, 2010, at 2 p.m. at the Community Hall of the Salvation Army in Tiyan.

“George Lai and I have worked together on many civic and charitable events for our island. This is our way of spreading the holiday spirit,” said First Lady Camacho. “Once again, we are humbled and blessed to be able to assist the Salvation Army.”

On behalf of CCCG members who each donated toys to the charitable cause, CCCG President Lai says his members were more than happy to give back to the community.

“We have all come together to help the Salvation Army and ensure no child is without a gift this Christmas,” said George Lai.
