The Department of Administration is preparing an additional 285 checks for adjudicated war claims this week, Adelup announced.
Checks are only being issued to claimants who have been verified by the U.S. Department of the Treasury and approved for payout by the local program. Check recipients are being called today.
Check distribution will be done at the Guam War Claims Processing Center in Tamuning (former Hakubotan building) on Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Checks that are not picked up this week will be mailed.
Verified claimants picking up checks must bring a valid photo ID and verify their social security number.
Individuals picking up a check on behalf of a claimant must bring a valid photo ID of individual picking up check; bring a Power of Attorney, and verify the claimant’s social security number
The Guam War Claims Processing Center will be closing its doors on Friday, Feb. 14, 2020, at 4 p.m.
Further war claims processing can be done at the Office of the Governor of Guam located at the Ricardo J. Bordallo Complex (Adelup) on Mondays to Fridays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
More checks will be issued in the coming weeks as the U.S. Department of the Treasury continues to verify claims submitted through the local program.
Future checks will be distributed by mail, with a phone call to notify the claimant that a check has been issued and mailed.
