The Guam Police Department’s Highway Patrol Division was activated early this morning to a fatal crash that occurred along Route 2A, Santa Rita by the Apra Mobil Gas Station.
According to GPD spokesman Sgt. Paul Tapao, preliminary reports suggest that on Saturday, Feb. 1, shortly after 2 am, officers assigned to the Southern Precinct Command responded to an auto-ran-off roadway crash that occurred by the Apra
Mobil Gas Station.
According to Guam Fire Department Spokesman Kevin Reilly, GFD units were dispatched to the crash scene.
Upon arrival, GPD officers noted the medical personnel performing CPR on a female individual. She was transported to Naval Hospital Guam where she later succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead by attending physicians.
A second individual within the car was also transported to Naval Hospital Guam for treatment and care relative to injuries sustained from the crash.
The male operator was also transported to Guam Memorial Hospital for treatment and care.
According to Tapao, the case remains open as traffic investigators have yet to determine if speed, alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash.
This marks Guam’s second traffic-related fatality for this year.
