Police say the man appears to have not been wearing a helmet.

Guam – An unidentified motorcyclist died Monday night after police say the operator collided into an SUV traveling in front of it.

Guam Police Department Spokesman Officer AJ Balajadia reports the accident happened around 9:15 pm in Yigo near the Pacific Supermarket. A man driving a 2005 Toyota Rav4 was traveling northbound on the inner lane when the rider of a 2007 Yamaha R1 that was right behind it crashed into the Rav4.

The motorcyclist was taken to the Guam Regional Medical City where he was pronounced dead about an hour later.

The accident closed off both north and south bound lanes of Rt. 1 in Yigo for several hours as police conducted an investigation.

Balajadia says it appears the motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Guam Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
