The motorcycle operator who crashed near the Hagatna McDonald’s Saturday night has died.

Sgt. Paul Tapao, the Guam Police Department’s public information officer, confirmed that the 23-year-old male operator was transported to Guam Memorial Hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead on Sunday Oct. 6 by attending physicians.

It was on Saturday, Oct. 5 at around 9:30 p.m. when traffic investigators from GPD’s Highway Patrol Division were activated to a motorcycle crash that occurred on Route 4 Chalan Kanton Tasi, Hagatna.

According to Tapao, preliminary police reports suggest that the motorcyclist was traveling on the outer southbound lane on Route 4 Hagatna, just past McDonald’s. The motorcyclist then lost control and ran off the roadway and collided with a guardrail.

Tapao said the case remains open as investigators have yet to determine if speed, alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash.
