National Shortage of Inhalers Could Affect Guam


The American Medical Center is encouraging its patients to stock up on albuterol inhalers.

Guam – You may want to begin stocking up on your asthma medication, there is a national shortage of albuterol inhalers and Guam could be affected.


The American Medical Center is advising its patients and anyone who has asthma to fill their prescriptions and stock up as it may take a few weeks to replenish supplies if they run out.

Rexall Drugs confirmed that they were notified by their supplier that they are in allocation mode for albuterol inhalers, which means there’s a limit to how much a supplier can provide each pharmacy.

The American Society of Health-System Pharmacists or ASHP website is reporting a shortage for both Pro-air and Ventolin inhalers, the two brands that are supplied in Guam.

AMC Clinic says pharmacies have reported that they have not been receiving their orders and are low on supplies.
