Navy corpsman once stationed on Guam was among casualties of Afghanistan terror attack

Max Soviak, a Navy Corpsman who was once stationed on Guam, was among the American service members killed in Thursday’s terror attack in Afghanistan.

Soviak, who hails from Berlin, Ohio, once resided in the village of Santa Rita on Guam. He was a Navy medic who had previously worked as a lifeguard and a technician.

According to the Navy, Soviak was killed during the August 26 attack at the Abbey gate of Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul.

In a statement, the Navy said: “We mourn the loss of this Sailor and we offer our deepest condolences to the loved ones of our fallen shipmate.”
