New Comers Make Their Mark in GOP Senate Primary

351

Guam –  The competitive race between the Calvo-Cruz camps drew out the GOP faithful Saturday and senatorial new comers benefited, posting some surprisingly big numbers.

There was of course more room for new comers to make their mark since there were only 3 incumbent Republican Senators. But the strong numbers posted by republican candidates does not bode well for the democratic parties chances in November.

Not surprisingly, Incumbent Republican Senators Tony Ada and Frank Blas Jr. placed first and second respectively in the republican primary race.

But it was the new comers who posted noteworthy showings. Dr. Aline Yamashita with 9,720 votes placed third, followed by former PNC News Anchor Mana Silva-Taijeron finishing 4th, and Chris Duenas in 5th place. Incumbent Telo Taitague finished with the 6th, behind Duenas.

Primaries of course are more about qualifying than winning and 4 candidates failed to make the cut-off.  They are Dennis Borja, Paul Reyes, Margarita Taitano and Armando Dominguez.
