New GDOE Administrator Assignments for School Year 2016-17

Guam – Guam Department of Education Superintendent Jon Fernandez announced a new round of school administrator assignments for School Year 2016-2017.

 

Coming next school year, a handful of schools will be welcoming a new principal. This is not a new practice. In fact every year since he has taken over the role as GDOE Superintendent, Fernandez says he reviews and adjusts administrator teams to ensure that each school has the best leadership the department has to offer. According to a release, the new assignments take into account the need to stabilize school leadership in anticipation of key principal retirements, support accreditation efforts at all schools this coming year, and improve instructional leadership across the district. Here are the new changes:

High Schools

·        Jim Reyes will serve as acting principal for Southern High School.  Reyes was previously principal of Untalan Middle School.

Middle Schools

·        Agnes Guerrero will serve as acting principal for Untalan Middle School. Guerrero was previously principal of B.P. Carbullido Elementary School.

·        Patrick Egrubay was named principal of Astumbo Middle School. Egrubay previously served in an acting capacity at Astumbo Middle School and, prior to that, was principal of Maria Ulloa Elementary School.

·        Michael Meno was named principal of Inarajan Middle School. Meno previously served in an acting capacity at Inarajan Middle School and, prior to that, was principal of M.U. Lujan Elementary School.

Elementary Schools

·        Lisa Cooper-Nurse will serve as principal of B.P. Carbullido Elementary School.  Cooper-Nurse previously served as principal of H.B. Price Elementary School.

·        Darlene Castro will serve as principal of Chief Brodie Memorial Elementary School. Castro previously served as principal of J.Q. San Miguel Elementary School.

·        Daisy Ramirez will serve as principal of Harry S Truman Elementary School. Ramirez previously served as principal of Inarajan Elementary School.

·        Annette Salas will serve as acting principal of Inarajan Elementary School. Salas previously served as assistant principal of Inarajan Middle School.

·        Elizabeth Hanzsek will serve as acting principal of J.Q. San Miguel Elementary School. Hanzsek was previously assistant principal at F.B. Leon Guerrero Middle School.

·        Nancy Diaz will serve as principal of P.C. Lujan Elementary School. Diaz previously served as principal of Chief Brodie Memorial Elementary School.

·        Germaine Castro will serve as principal of H.B. Price Elementary School. Castro previously served as principal of P.C. Lujan Elementary School.

According to a release from GDOE, the department is committed to filling vacant administrator positions prior to the beginning of the school year.
