Hunt for GDOE Superintendent might be over

The new Superintendent of the Guam Department of Education was chosen.

The Guam Board of Education voted in favor of Dr. Kenneth Swanson to hold the mantle of GDOE Superintendent on Tuesday

It was in a 6 to 1 vote – those who voted in favor were Education Board members:

Dr. Mary Okada, Maria Gutierrez, Lou Benavente, Robert Crisostomo, Felicita Angel , and Karlyn Borja.

Meanwhile, the sole apposition to Dr. Swanson’s nomination was University of Guam Professor – Dr. Ron McNinch.

Dr. Swanson has yet to be offered the official position of Superintendent – and his Contract is awaiting signature from Governor

Currently – former Senator of the Guam Legislature, and Commissioner of the Consolidated Commission on Utilities – Francis Santos, is holding down GDOE as interim Superintendent since John Fernandez’s resignation back in July of this year.
