Shinohara resigns; Baza appointed new PAG deputy general manager

Luis Baza has over 34 years of experience in both the public and private sectors, specializing in human resource management.

Port Authority of Guam Deputy General Manager Connie Jo Shinohara has resigned and Gov. Lou Leon Guerrero has selected Luis Rivera Baza to take over her position.

Baza’s nomination has been confirmed by the PAG Board of Directors.

“I want to welcome Luis to the Port Strong Family. He is no stranger to government operations and working in the ship and port industry. Luis has outstanding work ethic and together with the General Manager, I am confident that the successful work will continue,” said Governor Leon Guerrero.

Baza has over 34 years of experience in both the public and private sectors, specializing in human resource management. He’s held positions of responsibility at the Guam Memorial Hospital Authority, LSG Sky Chefs, Cabras Marine Corporation, and as the former Executive Director and current board member of the Civil Service Commission.

“I want to thank the Governor and Lieutenant Governor for placing their trust and confidence in me. I also want to thank the Port Board and look forward to their guidance. I am excited to work with everyone at the Port with a fresh start in the new
year,” said Baza.

Meanwhile, Adelup has issued a statement regarding the resignation of immediate past PAG Deputy General Manager
Connie Jo Shinohara: “Connie Jo is a trusted friend and true professional. She brought a lifetime of experience and competence to the Port Strong family and she will be sorely missed. She was instrumental in the transition of our Administration and we are thankful for her hard work and her commitment to the People of Guam.”
