Newly elected education board members take oath of office

On Monday, the Guam Education Board held its 10th swearing-in ceremony for newly elected GEB members and the school year 20-21 Islandwide Board Of Governing Students (IBOGS) officers.

The honorable presiding Judge, Alberto C. Lamorena III, administered the oath of office.

The 6 newly elected members of the Guam Board of Education are:

= Peter Alecxis Ada
= Lou Benavente
= Robert Crisostomo
= Maria Gutierrez
= Mark Mendiola
= Dr. Mary Okada

They all have received their election certificates.

For IBOGS, sworn in were the following students:

= Alison Dilipy and Jennifer Ittu from George Washington High School
=  Marina Babauta and Mark Imazu – John F. Kennedy High School
= Marshelly Borja and Jadrian Juico – Okkodo High School
= Louise Genovana from Southern High School
= Elyssa Cuevas and Jim Pamplona from Simon Sanchez High School
= Keezia Dotimas and Jennifer Roberto from Tiyan High School

Each student was elected or appointed by their peers to represent their respective schools in the Guam Education Board.

According to GEB board chair, Maria Gutierrez, January 4, is the first day that both the new members and IBOGS will officially start their duties with the Guam Education Board.

They will continue to advocate and be committed strongly to support the students, employees, and stakeholders of the Guam education system.
