Nicole J. Cruz Charged in Saturday Night Hit and Run That Sent 2 Year Old Boy to the Hospital

Guam – Guam Police have made an arrest in the hit and run accident that caused serious injury to a toddler, aged two, in Piti Saturday night.

According to today’s Magistrate’s complaints filed in Superior Court, 21-year old Nicole J. Cruz is charged with Leaving the Scene of an Accident with Injuries as a 3rd Degree Felony.  The complaint filed by Assistant Attorney General Gerald L. Henderson states that a woman told officers that she was walking with her family when a black truck pulling out of the Circle K Gas Station struck her son.  The report says that the truck then drove northbound on Route 1.

Security footage from the gas station showed a child being struck by a vehicle described as a Black Chevrolet Silverado, and a vehicle matching the description was located in University Gardens in Mangilao in the early morning hours Sunday.  The complaint states that police met with Cruz and she confirmed that she was at Circle K in Piti around the time of the incident.  The report also states that Cruz told officers that her vehicle was attacked by a group of Micronesians while she was at the Circle K.

The 2 year old boy was still in stable condition at GMH as of Monday evening.  His third birthday is Thursday January 2nd.
