In honor of Coach Blaine and the love of the game, Notre Dame Alumni teams from the past four decades, family members as well as the new kids on the block are represented in this tournament.
TALOFOFO – Notre Dame High School (NDHS) Gymnasium, Talofofo, Friday, November 20, 2015, 2015, 6:00 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday, November 21-22, 2015, 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. – Notre Dame Alumni will host their 4th annual co-ed alumni volleyball tournament at the ND gymnasium in Talofofo and the Royals together with GSPN and VIBE will hold the 1st “All Star” Island-Wide Girls High School Volleyball game. Tournament proceeds will support the NDHS athletic scholarship and sports program.
The annual alumni tournament is dedicated in memory of Coach Blaine Afaisen who passed away on December 22, 2012. Coach Blaine’s anthology of volleyball stratagem generated six championships (1984-1990) and one of the longest winning streaks in the history of volleyball, 32 undefeated games. Coach Blaine leaves behind a legacy of Royal volleyball built on the foundation of faith, commitment and perseverance. The execution of his blanket defense elevated the game into a whole new level.
