The Notre Dame Royals were looking to get back to their winning ways after losing to George Washington in the Semi-finals.
Mangilao – GUAM – Knowing they were going to have to fight hard to win the ND Lady Royals came out focused and prepared. They had the challenge of trying to damper the Southern Lady Dolphins’s 3rd place hopes, Lady Dolphins came into this one after becoming to team to watch in the last quarter of the season. The crowd was on hand for this exciting match. The southern Dolphins came out hitting with power. ND defense struggles early, but are able to finally get on the same page and execute. They go on a point run to take the lead and put themselves in good position, taking the first set. On to the second, Lady Royals settling into their groove. They pick up right where they leave off in the first set. They get some early set kills and separate themselves from Southern, early! ND runs away with the second set easily 25-16. Lady Dolphins, know their playing for a spot in the top 3, come out to start the 3rd set, ready! Dolphins start rolling on offense and start to pull away on the scoreboard, BUT ND, digg deep into their bag of effort and hang around the dolphins for MUCH of the set. Lady Dolphins, start a late surge to pull away and get the win. The 4th, and final set (if ND WINS) starts out thrilling. Both teams get some exciting kills and HUGE blocks to keep the playoff excitement alive! Southern Dolphins fans breathe alittle bit of life into the Dolphins defense who looked to be discouraged. Dolphins hang with the Royals as best as they can. Southern is able to never trail by more than a couple, however they can’t with stand up to The Fabolous ND LADY ROYALS OFFENSE. ROYALS, hang on to secure the third place trophy in IIAAG Volleyball
