NWS – 3:14 p.m. Saturday – Special Weather Statement – Tropical Depression forms NE of Chuuk

NWS Tiyan – As of 3:14 p.m. Saturday Oct. 19, the National Weather Service advised that Tropical Depression 22W had formed northeast of Chuuk.

Watch and Warning in effect for the Marianas

A tropical Storm Watch is in effect for Guam. Damaging winds of 39 mph or higher are possible Monday or Monday night.

A Typhoon Watch is in effect for Rota, Tinian and Saipan. Damaging winds of 39 mph or more are possible Monday, and typhoon force winds of 74 mph or greater are possible Monday night or Tuesday morning.

All persons in the watch areas should review their preparedness plan and be ready to implement it should a warning be issued for their area.

Storm Track Information
At 1 PM ChST Saturday the center of Tropical Depression 22W was located near Latitude 10.5N…Longitude 156.0E.

This is about 785 miles east-southeast OF Guam. TD 22W was moving west-northwest at 18 mph.
