NWS 8AM SUNDAY: Tropical Storm Pabuk Forms North-West of Marianas; No Warnings, But More Rain for Guam

Guam – Tropical Depression 19-W has been upgarded to Tropical Storm Pabuk.

It has formed well north of the Marianas and is traveling north north-west towards Japan. There are no watches or warnings for Guam or the CNMI.

However showers and periods of heavy rain are expected to continue for the next few days.

* DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK:

AT 700 AM CHST…2100 UTC…THE CENTER OF TROPICAL STORM PABUK WAS LOCATED BY SATELLITE NEAR LATITUDE 20.8 NORTH AND LONGITUDE 143.4 EAST.

TROPICAL STORM PABUK IS MOVING WEST-NORTHWEST AT 7 MPH. PABUK IS FORECASTED TO TURN TOWARDS THE NORTHWEST WITH A SLIGHT INCREASE IN FORWARD SPEED DURING THE NEXT 24 HOURS.

MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS HAVE INCREASED TO 60 MPH. TROPICAL STORM FORCE WINDS EXTEND OUTWARD UP TO 85 MILES FROM THE CENTER. TROPICAL STORM PABUK IS EXPECTED TO INTENSIFY THROUGH TONIGHT.

THE NEXT SCHEDULED ADVISORY ON TROPICAL STORM PABUK WILL BE ISSUED BY THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE LATER TODAY AT 2 PM.
