The National Weather Service (NWS), Weather Forecast Office Guam has the following advisories in effect:
A high risk of rip currents is in effect for Guam, Rota, Tinian, and Saipan through Monday afternoon. Rip currents are powerful channels of water flowing quickly away from shore. Dangerous and frequent rip currents are expected along east facing reefs.
Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water. If caught in a rip current, remain calm. Swim out of a rip current by swimming parallel to shore then back toward the beach when possible. Do not attempt to swim directly against a rip current. Strong rip currents are life-threatening.
A fire weather watch remains in effect for Guam through today. A fire weather watch means critical fire weather conditions are forecast to occur. Northeast winds at 15 to 20 mph are expected. Any fires that develop could spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.
