Guam – The National Weather Service has declared a High Surf Advisory from 6 am Sunday through Wednesday at 3 pm.
The NWS’s Coastal Advisory Message warns that satellite imagery shows that large northeast swells will arrive on Sunday.
The NWS says Guam can expect surf building to hazardous heights of 10 to 14 feet along north facing reefs and 9 to 12 feet along west facing reefs before noon on Sunday. The surf is expected to remain near those heights through Wednesday.
The Weather Service advises island residents to avoid venturing near exposed reefs and beaches, especially those along north and west facing reefs because the high surf will generate rip currents which are life threatening.
