A member of the Sorensen Media Group family and longtime radio host Nyah Joe Cruz gave back to the community after celebrating nearly three decades on air.

In a brief ceremony today, Cruz presented members of the Alee Women’s Shelter a check for a thousand dollars that was collected from funds accumulated from vendor fees and t-shirt sales at his party to celebrate almost 30 years of being on the radio.

According to Teresa Cruz, Nyah Joe’s wife, they thought of collecting donations to give out to community organizations about five years ago as a way to service those helping the less fortunate on the island.

“There’s a lot of sexual abuse, domestic abuse, child abuse on Guam. So we wanted to bring the community together in making a donation to a worthy cause,” Teresa said.

Nyah Joe says that he would like the thank the event’s attendees as well as the vendors who came to support the occasion.
