Okinawa Governor Denny Tamaki visited Guam last August to discuss the progress of the relocation of 5,000 Marines and their dependents to Guam.

Following Okinawa Governor Denny Tamaki’s visit to Guam last August to discuss the progress of the relocation of 5,000 Marines and their dependents to Guam from the Japanese prefecture, two community groups have reached out to Prutehi Litekyan about their concerns.

According to “No Helipad Takae Resident Society” and “One Love Takae,” Okinawan residents were not aware of their governor’s visit to Guam.

The groups added that while Tamaki should demand the removal of the U.S. military from Okinawa, he is not in a position to propose sites for the relocation.

According to a release, the members of the community groups do not want the challenges related to the presence of the Marines in Okinawa to also affect Guam.
