Guam – A picture of what looked like an undercooked burger served for lunch at Okkodo High School is circulating on social media.
The picture was posted on Facebook by a concerned parent complaining about the food served to Okkodo students at the campus yesterday. According to Guam Department of Education Superintendent Jon Fernandez, it weren’t just parents that were concerned about the meal, students also reached out to him. Fernandez explains that he launched an investigation to find out why the food wasn’t prepared properly. Okkodo is one of the four public schools where the food services are GDOE operated. Fernandez says he wants to make sure that there are correcting procedures in place.
“Because of what I saw and I agree with them that it looks unappetizing. It looked pretty bad that I needed to know what’s going on. I expect this afternoon to have a full report on why it happened, how broad or widespread, was it a couple of burgers or more, and what happened as far as who was supposed to make sure that the food was properly prepared and so forth. In addition to those findings, make sure there’s corrective action in place to be able to address and make sure it doesn’t happen again,” he says.
Fernandez says he expects that the investigation into the matter will be completed today.
