Guam – Torn down over the holiday weekend, the old Hong Kong Restaurant on Marine Corps Drive in Tamuning is now history.
The vacant building had been an eye sore for years until the Island-wide Beautification Task Force found the off-island owner, who subsequently sold it to Luen Fung Enterprises. The company has not yet announced plans for the now vacant lot.
Governor’s Spokesperson Phil Leon Guerrero said the old Hong Kong Restaurant is the second building that has come into full resolution with IBTF’s Abandoned Building Initiative chaired by Lt. Governor Ray Tenorio.
Leon Guerrero adds that they are still working on other abandoned properties such as the old Lights Lounge in Tumon, the old Gerry’s in Tamuning and the abandoned fish mart next to it.
The first building torn down by the task force was the old Tumon Western Gun Club back in January.
