Guam- Only 3 functioning ambulances have been servicing the entire island for the last few days.
Guam Fire Department Acting Spokesman Captain Ed Flores says they are expecting to get another ambulance back on line sometime this evening. The medics that are operational are stationed in Barrigada, Umatac and Inarajan. Flores says shipping replacement parts to Guam to fix the vehicles that are down is part of the problem. The other problem is fuel clogs because many of ambulances don’t use Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel (ULSD) fuel. Meanwhile, Flores says GFD is addressing their medical transportation problem, but adds all EMT personnel, including those driving fire trucks, are trained to give the same level of quality care to the local community.
