A minor told school officials that she was sexually assaulted by her stepfather on two separate occasions and according to police, the child’s mother was aware but did nothing.
The minor reported the assaults to her school on Wednesday, prompting an investigation by police.
During the investigation, police say that the child was sexually assaulted in 2018 in Santa Rita and 2019 in Barrigada.
Investigators learned that the minor confided in an older sibling who in turn told their mother about the sexual assault.
But instead of reporting the abuse, police say the mother told the children not to say anything to anyone.
Both were arrested for child abuse and family violence while the stepfather was additionally charged with 2nd-degree criminal sexual conduct.
They were both booked and confined to the Department of Corrections.
