Guam – A day after his appointment expired as Director of the Department of Parks and Recreation, Pete Calvo has been appointed Deputy Director of the Department.
According to a release from the Governor’s office:
“Today, the Governor appointed Pete Calvo to serve as the Department of Parks and Recreation’s Deputy Director, effective January 4. He automatically becomes the acting director pursuant to public law because this position is vacant.“
The release quotes the Governor’s Chief Legal Counsel as saying that: “When the Parks and Recreation Commission is eventually empaneled, it will nominate a permanent director at that time. This administration respects the process whereby the commission selecting a director, but at the same time, the department must be able to function, and this requires managerial direction.”
