Pika’s Cafe unveils ‘Eat Local’ mural

Pika's Cafe has unveiled its new "Eat Local" mural.

Pika’s Cafe in Upper Tumon is doing its part in keeping Guam beautiful and, in the process, gave one local artist the chance to showcase his work.

For the last month, John Bermudes has worked diligently on the island’s newest mural featuring his take on the “Eat Local” message — a motto that lies at the heart of the Pika’s Cafe ethos.

Bermudes, who is a local artist and designer, said of his newest work that it was actually his first attempt at painting a mural.

He normally does graphic design work but jumped at the opportunity to branch out and try something new and different.

The Eat Local message is also special to the artist as Bermudes said he really believes in the message, but he doesn’t apply it just to eating.

Bermudes said he tries to implement a local tie-up in anything he does, may it be work or his art.

The mural can be seen right outside of Pika’s Cafe in Upper Tumon.
