Guam – It may still be months away, but the Guam Memorial Hospital Volunteers Association is already busy preparing for their annual charity ball.
This year’s theme is “Action Meets Compassion: Changing Lives” and the non-profit’s goal is to raise at least $100,000.
Charity Ball Chairperson Lena Calvo-Rodriguez says 100 percent of the proceeds will go toward purchasing much-needed hospital equipment to donate to the Guam Memorial Hospital.
Rodriguez says the Pink Ladies are looking for sponsors for their annual charity event. Ticket sales have also begun, she says and they are selling for $100 a piece.
“We are not the only civilian based hospital on the island anymore but we are the only community based and so everything that comes to our organization goes back into the hospital. We don’t take anything for administrative costs. The pink ladies do all of this out of volunteerism. So I plead with the community to please come out and support our cause whether it’s in a small way or big way, every little dollar makes a difference,” Rodriguez says.
This year’s Charity Ball is set for April 23 at the Hyatt Regency Ballroom.
