GMH’s “Pink Ladies” honored

Guam – They are recognized by their pink vests and known for their big hearts. The Pink Lady’s at the Guam Memorial Hospital volunteer their time for the patients and their families while also fundraising, maintaining the gift shop, and providing comfort in times of hardships.

On Friday, the Pink Ladies  were honored at an awards and recognition ceremony. President of the Volunteer Association, Joyce Crisostomo, began with congratulating the Pink Ladies on a successful first quarter of fundraising.

Crisostomo further encouraged current members to recruit, stressing the need for sustainability of volunteers in order to continue offering the services they provide.

Recognized at the ceremony were the Lifetime members and those receiving the President’s Volunteer Service Award for cumulative service hours.

Guest speaker and Honorary President, First Lady Christine Calvo, took the opportunity to thank to volunteers for their invaluable contributions to Guam’s only public hospital.

“Today and every day we recognize you, the volunteers, the Pink Lady’s. You freely give your time and effort to aide our most vulnerable brothers and sisters, you truly embody the passion and care that is the heart of our community, who you have comforted and cared for during the time of need, we’ll never forget those sacrifices that you have made. I am proud to stand with you extraordinary Pink Lady’s who have an impact every single day.  You are all a true example, you offer hope in times of hardships, you are the heart and I appreciate each and every one of you for allowing me to join in with you today. Si Yu’us Ma’ase and God bless you all,” said the First Lady.
