PNC held an online poll to get the community’s pulse on the question —- Should Guam be concerned about the spread of the coronavirus from China?

Over the weekend, Guam adopted the travel restrictions announced by the Trump administration as part of the U.S. coronavirus emergency declaration. The declaration prohibits foreign nationals who have traveled to China in the previous 14 days from entering the U.S.

Also, starting today, airports will direct the arrival of U.S. citizens who have traveled in China within 14 days of their arrival to one of seven designated airports, where the United States Government has enhanced public health resources in order to implement enhanced screening procedures.

As of  Sunday, 357 people voted in our online poll. Here are the results:

  • No. There are no direct flights from China. The risk to Guam is low – 37 votes
  • Yes. It may not be a public health risk but it poses a serious risk to our tourism – 320 votes
