The holidays are for celebrating and having a good time. That’s why the Guam Police Department wants to remind the community to be safe this holiday season by having a designated driver.

As part of their Drive Sober of Get Pulled Over campaign, the Guam Police Department’s Highway Patrol division will be conducting DUI checkpoints along major roadways tonight and tomorrow night. GPD Spokesman Officer Paul Tapao said in addition to the stationary check points, officers will also be patrolling the island to deter residents from drunk driving.

He said, “We’ve been seeing too many fatalities, too many crashes occurring and pretty much al lalcohol related so again we like to remind the island community to be safe and designated driver when you’re out celebrating.”

Officer Tapao said police will continue to run DUI checkpoints through New Years. Checkpoints will be conducted from 6 in the evening to 6 in the morning.
