Port Authority To Celebrate 35 Years of Service

Guam – The Port Authority of Guam will honor 35 years of serving the people and our region during the annual Port Week celebration which will begin Monday morning.
The Opening Ceremony begins at 9am Monday morning in front of the Port Administration Building and will include a flag-raising ceremony and presentations to the agency by Governor Felix P. Camacho and Port Oversight Chairman Senator Thomas C. Ada.

“Our annual Port Week celebration is the time we take to celebrate our accomplishments and the employees who made it happen,” said Port General Manager Enrique J.S. Agustin.

Monday’s ceremony also will include presentations to recent Port retirees along with the employees who have graduated from the 2010 Apprenticeship Program.

Although the Port was turned over by the U.S. military to the Government of Guam in 1966, Port Week honors the anniversary of the Guam law that created the Port as an autonomous agency. That law was passed 35 years ago in October of 1975.
All members of the media are invited to attend the ceremony. Breakfast will be served immediately following the ceremony.
