Guam- The Port Authority of Guam will be holding the much-anticipated Port Modernization Program Kickoff Ceremony Friday October 22nd.
The event is scheduled for 11 a.m. and will be held in front of the Board of Directors Conference Room.
The Administrator of the U.S. Maritime Administration, Mr. David T. Matsuda, has flown to Guam to attend the ceremony and will be a guest speaker along with Major General David F. Bice. Acting Governor Michael W. Cruz, MD will deliver the keynote address.
Rear Admiral Paul J. Bushong will hand over a ceremonial check of $50 Million to the Acting Governor representing the funds that the Department of Defense recently gave to the Port for the Modernization Program. Also, the Area II Director of the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development will be speaking and it is anticipated that he will be making a major announcement regarding the request by the Port for an additional $54.5 Million in funding for the program.
